Project
Sanctuary Executive Director’s Report
Board of
Director’s Meeting January 3, 2006
Fundraising:
- The Mendocino Wine
Affair: Paul and Christine
presented to the MWA Foundation Board members on December 13, 2005. We have received word that Project Sanctuary
has been selected (along with two other new organizations: Mendocino
Community Health Clinic and Ukiah
Valley Medical
Center, as well as
Search and Rescue) to benefit from the two Wine Affair events. The
dates are June 23 and 24, 2006.
Please save these dates!!! We
will have more details after the first steering committee meeting in
January.
South Coast:
- A letter was sent to clarify Project
Sanctuary as a service provider separate from any other group, agency, or
organization.
Annual Audit:
- Although Julie Sawyer
completed her on-site work for the 04/05 audit year in November. Some follow-up research was needed
before her report could be finalized.
The research entailed reviewing financial records from the past
several years. This required us to
delay finalizing of the report until after the holidays. Letters requesting an extension of the
report deadline from 12/31/05 to 2/28/06 were sent to the grantors. Julie’s report to the Board will be
scheduled for the February Board meeting.
Program
Operations and Community Outreach:
- Vagina Monologues: The Coast performance
has been postponed until February 2007.
Mendocino Theater Company had to back out because they did not have
the personnel resources needed to produce the show and time had run out to
look for another producer. The Inland
show is scheduled for February 23, 24, and 25, 2006 at the Mendocino
College Little Theater. Board and
staff attendance and participation is welcome and encouraged. There are many ways to be involved: performing,
production or house staffing, etc. Check
with Christine if interested. This
is a PS fundraiser!
Web-site:
- The fantastic, multi-talented Dina
has made wonderful progress updating the PS web-site. Please check it out!

Columbus Day
(Indigenous People’s Day) October 2006 Research:
- Project Sanctuary now has
eleven paid holidays. (Please refer
to the calendar included in this packet for a list of them and their
specific dates.) This seems to be right in the middle of the total number
of holidays taken by other local non-profits.
- Few non-profits take this holiday. The organizations that we interact with
on a regular basis who are not available this day include mostly county
agencies such as the courts, Social Services, etc.)
- The cost of a holiday is the
same as a day of work. There is no additional
cost to the budget – just less work is done.
- Since it is a generally quiet
day, it may be a perfect day to leave unscheduled and used for either
special office/desk/fall cleaning time or one of the quarterly All-Team
meetings.
