Executive Director’s Report for April 1, 2008 Board Meeting

Funding Updates:

1. United Way Community Impact Grant to provide additional staffing for the transition program and shelter was submitted February 25, 2008.  We requested $55,000 to fund a fulltime position including salary, benefits, supervision, travel and supplies.  This position will assist Debbie at the shelter and transition so that we can more closely support clients.  It was lots of work.  I appreciated help from Teresa Crudo at Price Waterman, Dina Polkinghorne, and Judy Albert.  Christine and Dina will attend a grant workshop on April 4, 2008.  This is the 2nd tier decision date. (We passed the 1st.)

2. The TR Eriksen Foundation application was submitted before the March 15, 2008 deadline.   The focus of this $42,652 (2-year) proposal will supplement our prevention education services to serve schools in the Ukiah Valley with younger kids and smaller schools.

3. The Ukiah City Redevelopment Funds Request for Application (RFA) was received on 3/20/08.  This money can rehabilitate the transition house.  The application is due June 6, 2008.  It will need someone to put it together and manage the project, if awarded.  It will be a discussion/action item at the April 1, 2008 board meeting.

4. OES and DHS Funding: The first of our three OES funding allocations has been received.  This allocation is $3,533 less than last year’s.  This reapplication must be postmarked April 7, 2008.  Judy Albert, Dina Polkinghorne, and Price Waterman staff are working on it. Once we have received the other (2) OES and (2) DHS allocations, we will be able to draft next year’s budget more accurately.

5. Social Services often mandates that their CPS clients attend our groups and counseling; we are asking them to compensate us for PS services beginning July 2008.

Audits:

The audits required by OES for FYs ending 2006 and 2007 have been completed by the contractor and sent to OES and the board.
