Project Sanctuary

Executive Director’s Report for January 8, 2008 Board Meeting

Funding Applications/Outcomes:

● We are exploring possible funding applications for the rehabilitation of the Transition House. Two possibilities include: EHAPCD and CDBG.

Facilities:

Transition House: See above and regarding yard maintenance: Roberto and Paul did yard work on December 22 and follow-up calls were made to the three inland landscape firms that were previously sent a letter requesting assistance. To date, one declined and two have not responded to the follow-up call.

Staffing Updates:

● The bilingual Fort Bragg Program Assistant position has been filled.  We welcomed Diana Naal-Sallinen on December 17.

Long-term volunteer and current part-time Fort Bragg staffer, Bonnie McCambell will be leaving in mid February to travel the world.

Activities:

● The Vagina Monologues will be performed on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 8:00 and Sunday, February 10 at 2:00 at the Willits High School Auditorium.  Once again Mendocino College is supporting this community outreach/fund-raiser by supplying the instructor and classroom space.  Project Sanctuary is responsible for covering all other production costs and coordination.  Sponsorship invitation letters to local professionals in the Willits Community have been sent.  Former PS staffer, Rose Bell stepped into the director role when Sarah Walker had to drop out.  Rose has lots of experience with V-Day and we are grateful for her participation.

● Staff gathered at the Wellspring Renewal center for training and a holiday lunch on December 13.  Lunch was underwritten in part by board donations.

● Adopt-a-Family board donations were split equally between the coast office and inland office efforts and were used for special needs for clients who were not otherwise adopted.

December Newsletter Donations: $3,656. was received in newsletter envelopes through 12/31/07.
